Cld: if u and the bandit are going near same speed, above
200 IAS and he breaks nose down, he should be toast. if he breaks up,
now that a different story
. you should be able to pull lead on any plane in AW if he breaks down. good way to practice is, find a
little FB, when u have the enema outnumbered come in level at around 190-230,
and if he happen to break away from u hit the flaps, watch the g's and try to follow get in trouble, your buddies will be there to help when u get good at it, spread yourself around
. thats my bread and butter in the 51. OK 1 other thing, could to know for all planes: when u have bandit behind u somewhere, i see lots of beginners,
maneuver, stop to look, then go into another maneuver until the bandit is in your front view, make all
your maneuvers one continuous flow of maneuvers. I will usually take the time when I'm in a rolling
part of my maneuvers to take a little time to study him, mainly his distance, and direction of his
nose, take 1/2 second. KEEP MOVING
Bummer: Excellent! I still do that looking thing..I die during the look Or get pinged, at least
Cld: oh, and in if your in a plane that don't turn so good, turn into his turns, not away from his. its harder for me to kill a moving target
.Use rolls to look at bandit, pitching u should
be watching the g-meter. i spend a lot of time watching my g-meter and u should learn to know what view to look out to find the bandit. Don't find yourself searching for him. takes awhile to figure it out, but it will come to ya. oh, and what view, and position of his nose = him getting a shot at ya. How much fuel to take in 51?
Bummer: 40%?
Cld: if its bzy close by, 25%, if i plan to climb 45%
Bummer: 25%, OK I will use that
Cld: it should matter if u fly it like it should be flown it's hard for me to tell a diff, until i get around 20% or lower if a 51 looses flaps, it becomes a 47 . . hehe. feels like a brick when it happens. fly like one too
Bummer: hopefully they will lock extended on e notch
Cld: rgr i would much rather have flaps, then WEP. u can extend flaps up to around 300 IAS
n 51 don't no why u would, other then trying to bleed speed. just for practice, fly your plane by the g
meter and speedo and try to maintain 4.5-6 Gs for as long as u can at speeds of 180-220 closer u reach 220, release flaps, because u don't need them. closer u reach 180 deploy. simple. Shaky, how does 51 kill Yak? G
Shaky: hehe...B&Z him to death
Shaky: stay above him...NEVER try to turn with him...
Cld: i thing, don't ever try nose low turns with Yak ![]()
Shaky: if yer in trouble, dive for speed...if he follows...RUN
Cld: hehe
Cld: Yak a better turner then most people think
Shaky: of course, if you stay above the Yak, and stay on TOP of him he's toast. Yak turns better ONLY because it bleeds down to low speed faster than anything else
Cld: Yak kind of like a Zeke that needs a tune-up, and has a jammed gun or 2
Shaky: try a nose high turn in a slow Yak...
you'll hear that "Giant Sucking Sound" of all yer E going bye-bye ![]()
Cld: hehe
Shaky: Actually...a Yak vs Zeke fight should be cool - Yak faster, dives better, but the Zeke is like a damn whirling top![]()
Cld: Zeke be better in vertical?
Shaky: mmmmm...both bleed E kinda bad
Cld: how about coming over the top?
Shaky: since the Zeke is slower to start with, its gets
slowest fastest...
Sluggo: I was gunning for Merchant a while back,
Cld: have to train your eye to know where that G-meter is without thinking
Sluggo: rode along for about 15 minutes while he got alt, chatting on 'com, he dropped, said "Let's have some fun" I was lining up a Cz p51 in my sites, and said on 'com
Sluggo: "Merchant, do not pull the wings off this bird"
Merhc says "cc, no prob". 2 seconds later "BOOM" You have pulled your
wings off
Cld: did u say the MF word? ![]()
Sluggo: 15 minute ride as a gunner, never fired a shot
Bummer: more French stuff, eh?
Sluggo: hehehe, only the cat heard me
Cld: hehe
Bummer: I would say that , with bombs gone, you can do what
you want (carefully)
Cld: u guys use the throttle much?
Bummer: if you are below 200 knots, better at 175
Sluggo: use throttle in Spit a lot, but I don't fly the
spit very much
Bummer: with bombs, or fast, NEVER pull over 3 g's
Cld: hate when that happens
Bummer: Did you mean in the 26, or in fighter, Rash?
Cld: learn to use your throttle, but don't over use it
Cld: all
Bummer: I am using it to some benefit in f4, not so good in
109 yet. I tend to to 100% chop, not good in 109, so far as I can tell
Cld: and breaks in F4?
Bummer: good, if you have gotten yourself low with a Ki, dive and chop throttle... when it's time to go up or sideways, turns much quicker. can get you around in time to stay alive for a while
Cld: also good to a double split s, down low
Bummer: I have to admit...
Cld: if u have a plane that can bleed speed good with nose
pointed down
Bummer: I don't know the limits on the f4 for split s...
Cld: know about or why to use double splits
Bummer: Know why, just picked up from this series to learn absolute minimum altitude and use it as a weapon
Sluggo: Twist's suggestion for FW class
Cld: also good to use at alt
Sluggo: learn absolute min alt for split-s with and without
throttle, flaps, etc
Bummer: yes, that was it
Bummer: ga about the plane with the good downward bleed,
sorry
Cld: cc that is my last ditch move down low
Cld: well say u have plane that has more e, not a lot, but looks like he is going to try and saddle up on ya. if his speed is way more then u, he wont be able to
even follow first split. so don't do it when he is much faster, but . . . as i said, when he has a little advantage in speed, and u are a little slow, (say 200 or less, he at 230 or so), he may chop throttle as u go in split, the u go right into another he is really concentrating on u, and tries to
follow second split he will almost instantly blackout, with his nose pointed down- loose a lot of e
or eat dirt. get the idea, its risky, but when it works, they sure dweeb out
. often u will find yourself
on there 6. a FW might be the only plane that might even come close to matching your double
split-s, f4, would be next closes using his breaks, and full throttle chop. its a wonderful thing
when it works, puts a smile on your face. Don't get suckered by it when u have the e. understand?
Sluggo: cc yep
Bummer: cc, learn the double split (lesson 23 for me) I
have a lot to practice
Cld: u Don't have to actually complete first split a lot of
the better moves, involve learning to judge E, and when u can expect to receive hits from a bandit it's kind
of like being able to slip the
first punch and coming back with a counter but your first move is making
the appearance, that he has a shot sucker him in, slip, and counter
involves exposing your 6
long enough to get fixated
but not letting him hit it turning away when he is fast, is best way to
avoid that when he has a little more e then u, see which he is already angled coming in, and
start turning that way, he will start to like chops then as he comes into range really crank hard in the direction u are going if he black out, his flight path will straiten, and all u have to do is
roll 180, and he should be there, but pulling away very effective in the FW and its roll rate meant to
lick chops a few lines back ![]()
Sluggo: was wondering about that . . . . .
Cld: meant to say (oops) hehehe i thought you didn't mean he got a sudden craving for pork
Cld: but u have to learn when to use these maneuvers
Sluggo: well rash, thanks for the advice, think i need to
go
Cld: hehe
Cld: rgr, glad we scrubbed ![]()
hehe
Bummer: me too, good scrub session
Sluggo: hehe
Cld: hehe
Sluggo: Shebop, I am gonna send my reg for Munda in a few
minutes ![]()
Cld: set them, then kill kill kill hehe cc Sluggo
Bummer: see you all in the air, (and I be dangerous
now!)
Cld: set them up (oops) ![]()
Bummer just exited the teleconference.
Sluggo: bye
Sluggo just exited the teleconference.
cya rash, thanks again
